“Returns” Ultimania - A Better Ending

According to the recently released “Ultimania”, there were plans for an alternate epilogue.
In the official epilogue, Lightning is seen embarking on another journey to find her friends. In the alternate epilogue that was ultimately scrapped, it would have shown Lightning being reunited with all of her friends (and possibly Hope in his former, adult form)…

Why was this better ending not chosen..?
We should all storm the SquareEnix headquarters and demand an answer.
